History
Big Bessie is a fossicking area immediately south of the Sapphire township in the Central Queensland Gemfields. Named after a productive mining claim, it has been part of the gemfields for decades.
What You Can Find
Sapphires in various colours and zircon crystals are found in the alluvial wash material.

Accessible from the Sapphire township. Follow signposted tracks south of town.
