History

Glenalva is a fossicking area on the southern fringe of the Central Queensland Gemfields, between the main Sapphire-Rubyvale area and the Willows. The area takes its name from the former Glenalva pastoral property.

What You Can Find

Sapphires and zircon are found in the alluvial wash gravels, similar to the surrounding gemfields.

Access via unsealed roads south from the main gemfields. High-clearance vehicle recommended.

Camping

Limited facilities. Bush camping may be permitted. Carry your own water and supplies.
