History

McDonald Flat is a general permission area south of Clermont, named after an early settler or miner. The flat terrain along the creek system here trapped alluvial gold washed down from the surrounding hills.

What You Can Find

Alluvial gold in creek flat deposits. Fine gold predominates, though occasional coarser pieces are found.
